Everything You Need to Know

  • Are you offering both in person and virtual appointments?
Yes! In person appointments are offered within the Allendale Professional Building in South Central Edmonton. Secure video and phone appointments will continue to be offered to clients located across Alberta and Northwest Territories.
  • What are the fees?
The fee for individual therapy is $235 per 50-minute session as recommended by the Psychological Association of Alberta. Payment for services is required by the start of each appointment. E-transfer, credit card and cash are accepted forms of payment. Cash is not an available option for video or phone sessions. There is a no show / late cancellation fee charged at the full session rate (i.e. $235) when less than 24 hour notice is provided. Please note: third party payers often do not reimburse this fee. Report writing and other services are charged in 10 minute increments except where noted.
  • Do you direct bill to insurance plans?
I provide receipts upon payment for services that can be submitted for potential reimbursement through a health insurance plan. As a registered psychologist, my services are typically covered under paramedical services, psychological services and/or health spending account. I recommend confirming your eligibility for coverage for psychological services and the amount covered per session prior to your first appointment in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises. I also recommend verifying whether appointments conducted via videoconferencing and/or telephone are eligible for reimbursement. Some health insurance plans have extended eligible psychological services to include sessions conducted over phone and video due to the pandemic whereas some already covered these services. I also offer direct billing, upon request in advance of appointments, to select health insurance plans: - Alberta Blue Cross - Beneva Inc. - BPA - Benefit Plan Administrators - Canada Life - Canada Life PSHCP - Canadian Construction Workers Union - Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance - CINUP - ClaimSecure - Coughlin & Associates Ltd. - Cowan - D.A. Townley - Desjardin Insurance - Equitable - First Canadian - GMS Carrier 49 - GMS Carrier 50 - Group HEALTH - GroupSource - Industrial Alliance - Johnson Inc. - Johnston Group Inc. - LiUNA Local 183 - LiUNA Local 506 - Manion - Manulife Financial - Maximum Benefit - MDM Insurance Services Inc. - People Corporation - RWAM Insurance Administrators - Simply Benefits - TELUS AdjudiCare - Union Benefits - UV Insurance
  • What are my options if I cannot afford to pay the full rate?
I reserve a portion of my appointments to provide a sliding scale rate for individuals who do not have any insurance coverage, whose household income only supports basic needs and who are experiencing financial hardship. The process for requesting sliding scale begins with the interested individual identifying a feasible fee range; providing information regarding insurance coverage (including as a dependent of a loved one's insurance), household income and employment status. The reduced rate must be negotiated prior to scheduling counselling sessions. The agreed upon reduced rate would be for up to four sessions, at which point the fee would need to be re-evaluated. As with any client, if my services become a mismatch for your needs, I would provide referrals for alternatives. If you require a substantially reduced rate, community agencies that offer low cost or no cost counselling in Edmonton include YWCA Edmonton, UofA Education Clinic, the Family Centre, Cornerstone Counselling, Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton, Momentum Walk-In Counselling, Mercy Counselling, Jewish Family Services, Access 24/7, and ACCESS Open Minds. The Psychologists' Association of Alberta's Disaster Response Network provides pro bono support during COVID-19.
